Getting started

Use this guide to take a new workspace from an empty dashboard to its first assigned work item. Workspace owners and admins can create clients, projects, and work. If you joined as a collaborator, start with Work items and subtasks.

Understand the three building blocks

  • Client: the business or person you work for, with their contact details.
  • Project: a group of related work for a client, such as a website redesign.
  • Work item: a task or request you need to complete. It can belong to a project or be a standalone ticket for a client.

You do not need to create a project for every small request.

1. Sign in and check your workspace

Verify your email using the link sent after registration, then sign in. Your Dashboard includes a Set up your workspace section when you have no clients or no projects.

Open Account → Profile & Account to review your profile. If you belong to multiple workspaces, use Account → Switch workspace before adding records. On a phone, open Menu for these options.

2. Add a client

  1. Choose Add your first client on the Dashboard, or Clients → New Client.
  2. Enter Client Name. Add the primary contact, email, and phone when available.
  3. Optionally add website and staging URLs, including https://.
  4. Choose Create Client.

The client record opens after saving. Contact details can help prefill that client's request forms later.

3. Create a project when the work needs one

  1. Open the client and choose New Project, or use Projects → New Project.
  2. Enter a descriptive Title, choose the Client, and confirm the Owner.
  3. Select a Phase. Add a project lead or check team members if needed.
  4. Add a start date and target due date if you want the project to appear on the Planning timeline.
  5. Choose Create Project.

Owner, project lead, and members describe responsibility for this project. They do not change anyone's workspace role or billing access.

4. Add your first work item

From the project, choose New Work Item to carry the client and project into the form. For a one-off request, use Work → New Work Item and leave Project set to Standalone ticket.

Enter the title, client, type, and status. Choose an assignee and due date when known, then save. Assigned open work appears in that person's Dashboard under My Work.

5. Bring in your team or client

Owners can use Account → Team → Invite Collaborator to invite teammates. Clients submitting requests do not need a team seat: send them a project revision form instead.

Next: Work items and subtasks, Team access and roles, or Planning.
